The weekend we were there, it rained heavily and the campsite was wet, so we decided to sit in the grass and not make a fire. It is good to sit in a place where we can rest and eat. That is, if there were guests in the cabin we shared the cabin with, we could have been caught in a ring of fire on a high mountain. Another option for Cozy Cabins is on more land, but it’s closer and has a parking lot. I don’t think I want to be one of them.

The water was low in the first part of the float, and we had to get out twice when we hit the hill. By noon, we were in the deeper parts of the river all day.

2 miles from the main office is still a pain. When I talk about the office, it’s the worst I’ve seen in the camp. Usually the office is a store where you can buy anything you forgot to bring. Not in the bird’s nest. They have ice cream and that’s enough. There is no Wi-Fi, which is unusual.

The office is where you go to eat (a real bummer when you live at the Meramec River Lodge 2 miles away). I signed up because I thought it would be nice not to have to clean all the food and cook. But the quality of the food was not very good so it was better to have a breakfast bar and a sub sandwich. We were also told that dinner would be pork. Of course not. We said they would get good chicken, but not what we expected or wanted.

Another thing we all don’t like is that this is not one of those camps where you enjoy visiting nature. No matter where you look at our cabins or tents, we have all the balls.

Bottom line I will not stay here again. It’s a great option if you want a day out on the water with your dog. But think twice before you camp.
