Topsail Beach and Nags Head Beach in North Carolina were recently named among the top 10 most pet-friendly beaches in the United States. This list was created based on feedback from locals and tourists about where they like to take their pets to soak up the sun.
“We used a certain methodology to make the selection,” said David Fleming, who worked with Invitation Homes to select the final list.
“Of course, we asked the residents of each beach what they thought. We also connected to the Reddit community, compiled the list, and then cross-referenced it with the government website. Other factors and restrictions on different beaches were also taken into consideration.

Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round as long as they are kept on a leash no longer than 10 feet long, according to the Nags Head website.
Many other Outer Banks beaches considered pet-friendly destinations also allow dogs. But many countries have restrictions on when your four-legged friends can roam or what time of year.
Dogs are allowed at Topsail, but as noted on the Topsail Beach website, dogs must be on a leash of 20 feet or less between May 15th and September 30th. Outside of summer, dogs must be under voice command from a responsible person, but do not necessarily need to be on a leash.
