Dog Friendly Resorts Vermont – Looking for dog friendly hotels in New England? I hate leaving my dog Roscoe at home when I travel. After all, holidays are more fun when you’re with your best friend. But finding dog-friendly hotels in New England requires a lot of research. What is the hotel’s dog policy? Any extra charge? Are there any weight or breed restrictions? And you may worry that traveling with your dog requires you to sacrifice your comfort. Is the only option to “hang out” in dirty roadside motels and campsites? Or are there places that not only allow dogs to live, but actually care for dogs and their owners?
I’m here to save you a lot of time and hassle when planning your next vacation with your dog. I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of my favorite dog-friendly hotels in New England, including where I’ve stayed in Roscoe. So the next time you’re on the road there’s no need to leave your best friend! Get your feet wet at some of the most relaxing places to stay in all of New England.
Dog Friendly Resorts Vermont
Located on the shores of Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor believes that no family vacation is complete without four-legged family members. Their pet policy allows well-behaved dogs of any size in cottage accommodations, for a daily fee of $20 per pet. To book online, you can select any of the cottages, then add the pet fee at checkout.
Burlington Pet-friendly Vacation Rentals
This resort has everything you need to have the best holiday without leaving the 700 acre grounds. Choose from a variety of recreational activities for the whole family, from land to lake. The guest pool and beach are pet-free areas, but dogs have their own designated swimming area, Fanny’s Beach. We were also able to rent a sailboat to go out on the lake with Roscoe! Additionally, you can dine at one of the resort’s five on-site restaurants. Dogs are not allowed inside the dining area, but are welcome to eat in Red Mill’s outdoor casual seating area. Dog walking and sitting services are also available if you want to have fun without Fido.
From land to water, Basin Harbor has plenty of things to do for dogs.
The Field Guide Lodge in Stowe is a stylish boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels. Like most of their properties, their pet policy allows dogs under £70 for an additional fee of $50 per dog per day. We stayed in one of their three dog-friendly cottage suites, which have a large space and a private outside entrance. You can book these suites online, be sure to add a note with the quantity, size and name of your dog at checkout. Dogs cannot be left alone in guest rooms. Out of respect for other guests, dogs on a leash are only allowed on hotel verandas and outdoor common areas.
The hotel is known for its stylish and lodge-chic decor. The lobby lounge, comfortably decorated with a retro wood stove and cozy fur throws, invites you to sit with a book or a board game. You can have breakfast in the lobby coffee bar or drinks and snacks in the brand new Après Only vintage ski themed bar. You have to book the outdoor hot tub in advance, which is a bit inconvenient. But the advantage is that you are guaranteed to get it yourself. And the location can’t be beat. We were able to walk into town, and the mountain shuttle stopped right in front of the hotel. It’s the perfect home base for you and your pup’s Vermont adventures.
Pet Friendly Garden Level King At Woodstock Inn
The Inn at Mountain View Farms is a very special place to stay in the heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Per their pet policy, dogs are allowed in select rooms for an additional $50 per night: Peacham, Danville, NN. Danville, Maidstone and the Lost Nation. You can select the “Pet Friendly” option to book your room online. The hotel is very pet friendly so there is a friendly golden retriever working at the front desk and there is also an animal sanctuary on site. Be careful if your dog is reactive towards other animals!
We stayed in the Deluxe Peacham Room, which was homey but comfortable. Roscoe especially loved to sleep in front of the wood burning fire. In the morning, we were greeted with pastries and hot coffee from the oven in the main building of the hotel. Just when we thought we couldn’t get enough food, the innkeeper arrived with stacks of his famous pancakes topped with farm fresh blueberries. We couldn’t stop it.
This historic 400-acre farm perched on a ridgeline in the unspoiled Northeast Kingdom is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. It’s good to get up early to see the sunrise, when pale pink and purple hues spread over the mountains and the early morning mist settles in the valley.
The Kimpton Taconic in Manchester has one of the most generous hotel pet policies I’ve ever experienced. Everyone is welcome, from furry to feathered, as long as they sit on the lift! There are no limits on the size, weight, breed or number of pets allowed, and there are no deposits or additional fees. Simply filter by pet when booking online and complete the pet form at check-in.
Okemo Vt Pet Friendly Family Lodging Pointe Hotel Ludlow
Kimpton Taconic is truly the perfect place to take care of your dog. The rooms are filled with food bowls, toys, treats, and a plush Orvis dog bed. (You must visit the main Orvis store down the road with your dog). Dogs are allowed in the hotel’s on-site restaurant, in the lobby of the Copper Grouse, and in the front porch dining area. In cold weather, they have outdoor heaters, which ensure that both you and your pup stay warm. Additionally, you may request pet services by contacting the front desk, including but not limited to pet sitting, dog walking, and pet spa services.
Made in Vermont in downtown Burlington is a home away from home for you and your pet. The pet policy of this urban chic boutique bed and breakfast welcomes well-behaved furry friends for a fee of $25 per pet, per day. You can book directly online, make sure to add your dog to the guest number and indicate the details in the notes.
We stayed in room 904, one of the larger rooms recommended for larger dogs. Although it was quite comfortable with Roscoe, and the bathrooms were in the hall (although they were at least private). The unique character of the inn may not be for everyone, but it is in a great location within walking distance of the city center. The owner is very friendly and willing to give suggestions of pet friendly restaurants and things to do in Burlington.
Located between Killington and Rutland in Central Vermont, Mountain Top Resort not only allows dogs, they put dogs first. Their pet policy states that canine companions are welcome in the resort’s four luxury king cabins and a selection of guest houses with Vermont-made cookies, dog beds, and bowls . You can book for a maximum of two dogs per unit, with an additional charge of $50 per dog per night. Dogs must be registered at the time of your reservation.
Clay Brook Hotel & Residences
The hotel invites you to “come for the view, stay for the experience.” Located on 700 acres of land in the heart of the Green Mountains, the resort offers stunning views of Chittenden Reservoir. With direct access to this incredible outdoor playground, there’s no shortage of fun things to do with your dog all year round. In the warmer months, enjoy the private beach with free kayak, canoe and paddleboard rentals. In winter and spring, explore cross country skiing and snowshoeing trails. Dine outside with your dog on the terrace with stunning meadow, lake and mountain views by day and a cozy fire pit by night.
The Stowehof is my dog-friendly hotel in Stowe. You can call ahead to book dog-friendly rooms on the ground floor, which allow dogs of all sizes for an additional $25 per night and have direct access to the hotel’s expansive grassy lawn.
This warm and welcoming lodge is built around rough wooden beams and stunning mountain views. It’s like a real alpine escape, timeless and comfortable. The world seems to be changing around her, but Stovehof will remain a familiar home away from home.
With simple but clean rooms, this is one of the more affordable hotel options in Stowe. Breakfast is a bit lacking, so go somewhere else for your morning meal. But grab a drink from the Fritz Bar and sit in a cozy spot with your pup. Choose between playing board games in the large booth in the lounge, reading a good book in front of the large sunken fireplace, or stargazing around the roaring fire pit outside.
