Dog-friendly Gold Coast, Qld: Visiting With A Dog
One of the most convenient places to stay in Queensland is The Summit 1770, a place designed specifically for dogs and their owners just outside Agnes Water. A caravan park has also been built near the entrance, with three dog kennels near the top.
It has a mix of powered and unpowered sites, as well as an excellent camp kitchen and utility block. But the dog facilities really stand out.
Just opposite the main building block is a large off-leash dog park, complete with a dam. Another small dog also runs to that spot to watch the sunset. Additionally, since my stay in 2021, some of the places they operate have added dog pens. Move quickly to mark a spot with your own 3m x 3m dog pen.

Holidaying With Dogs
BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park has a lot to offer the whole family, from a huge water park to a licensed restaurant, but it’s also a fantastic dog destination, the most dog-friendly place on the Gold Coast or There is also a proper caravan. Park too. Close to Brisbane.

Pets are allowed at all locations in the park, both at numbered sites and at the larger non-operated campgrounds. Pets can also join you in the cabin, provided they are registered at the time of booking. There is a maximum of two pets per cabin, and dogs and cats under 6 months of age must be kept in a cage, and all pets must not be kept in bed.
Caravanning Queensland Pet-friendly Road Trip
The park has two designated off-leash zones. The first is to the sunrise point, which is important to see with your “big picture frame” at sunrise. On the other side is another area, a lower level. Please note that both are unrestrained and dogs must remain under your voice command.

Pets are welcome at pet sites as well as select Dentre and Reef Cabins. One-bedroom Daintree cabins sleep two adults and two children, while reef cabins are open-plan and perfect for couples with pets. Online booking is possible.
Half of Mackay’s caravan parks allow pets, and one pet-friendly park is Mackay’s Bakers Creek Caravan Park on the southern edge of the town. Grass-fed and with pets allowed in non-electric spaces, this is a great place to stay overnight or longer.
This small park has an excellent camp kitchen as well as some comfortable places to sit by the river. However, the newest thing in the park that makes it more dog friendly is the dog exercise area at the far end of the park from the river.

Walkamin Caravan Park is a friendly caravan park located halfway between Mareeba and Aughton. This is a convenient base for exploring the Atherton Tablelands, although only caravans and motorhomes are allowed – no tent camping. At its center is a large camp kitchen with a fireplace, a popular gathering place for green comads.
One of the problems on a long trip is finding where to wash your dog’s bed (or towel or jacket…), caravan parks surprisingly do not prohibit washing dog things in laundry parks. Please note that this park only has a dedicated washing machine for washing dog beds.
One of the most dog-friendly places near Bundaberg is Woodgate Beach, as it has a long beach that is open at both ends. Fortunately, the local NRMA Woodgate Beach Holiday Park also accepts pets.
A maximum of two pets are allowed in both regular and outdoor spaces, be they dogs, cats or birds. Reservations must be made directly from the park. After checking in with your dog, you’ll receive a dog welcome pack, which includes a dog-friendly map, dog biscuits and the all-important poo bag.Â

In addition to being a stone’s throw from the Riverheads Ferry Terminal, the park also offers pet-friendly amenities. Advance booking is essential, as the service is regularly booked.
On site, dogs are welcome in many areas of the campsite, as well as in the Bertha Australia van. We stayed in the Dog’s Corner area, which was close to the block with a large camp kitchen and exceptional amenities. There was also a nature reserve nearby with hiking trails for rent.
Keep in mind that flies are common in this area, so keep your dog covered and inside, ideally in the evening.
