Dog Friendly Resorts Near San Diego – SeaWorld San Diego is one of the most popular attractions, especially for families. SeaWorld San Diego is located near the Mission Bay area, close to several other popular tourist areas, and close to the San Diego Airport, making it easy to find hotels near SeaWorld San Diego.
The other good news is that the hotels and resorts on this list are some of the most budget-friendly hotels and resorts in San Diego. Because there are no good 5 star options nearby to consider.

There are no hotels near SeaWorld San Diego, about a 25-minute walk away. The good news is that it’s easy to get to thanks to the large parking lot. You can also easily use a ride-sharing service like Uber or Lyft to get to your designated parking lot drop-off location. I always take my kids there. It’s free and easy.
The purpose of this list is to highlight the highest rated hotels in all price ranges as close to SeaWorld San Diego as possible. It’s a bit more diverse than the others I’ve put together because it covers a lot of areas. To give you an idea, the Mission Beach and Old Town areas are close to SeaWorld San Diego.
It’s a bit far, but if you want to visit Sea World, a hotel in downtown San Diego or a hotel in La Jolla is fine. Those looking for a truly luxurious hotel are advised to check out both of these areas as they are both not on this list.

Some hotels with the SeaWorld name are not as close to the park as the name suggests. If you are considering a hotel that is not on this list, check the distance on Google Maps or a similar platform to avoid confusion.
Speaking of distance, here are a few things to consider when heading to this popular San Diego theme park. I already mentioned how far each hotel is from SeaWorld San Diego by foot if you can walk there. Otherwise, I mentioned the driving time.
Driving distances may be shorter or longer than walking distances. Routes and access routes vary depending on the bridge that crosses the bay, and in some places you may need to safely cross busy streets to reach the park entrance.
To get the lowest price, be sure to pre-purchase your SeaWorld San Diego tickets online before arriving at the park. Often only special offers are available online. The best offers can be found on our website. No need to pre-order.

Tip: Public parking at SeaWorld San Diego is free for some annual pass holders, but parking at other locations is $30 per vehicle. Priority parking is also available. Buying a parking spot online can save you time, and depending on the location of your hotel or resort, using Uber can save you money.
Why we love it: Families will love the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina. A $65 million renovation was completed in 2019. This is one of the few hotels in San Diego with water slides (there are three; guests must be at least 42 inches tall to use them).
Walk 4 blocks to Belmont Park, Oceanfront Amusement Park and Mission Beach’s oceanfront beach. Mission Beach has quite a few restaurants and shops along the boardwalk and main street.
Beach Amenities: Although the hotel is located in Mission Bay, there is no beach on the bay, but one of the best things to do in Mission Bay is water sports. The on-site Mission Bay Sports Center offers jet ski, kayak, boat, jet ski and bicycle rentals for use around the bay. You can also take advantage of Gone Sailing’s private and group charters that depart from the hotel’s marina.
San Diego Luxury Golf Resort In Carlsbad, Ca
Good to know: This hotel does not have a Regency Club. You will read mixed reviews, many of them before the renovation. This is one of my top picks because of the many amenities and attractions nearby. We offer adjoining rooms that include:
Why you should go: The newly renovated San Diego Mission Bay Resort is a great option for those checking in to visit SeaWorld and other areas of San Diego. Because this resort has great highway access (we didn’t hear any highway noise from our room). Newly renovated rooms, a beautiful heated pool and water sports are also available. This is a good choice for a beach hotel on the bay.
The Mission Bay Boardwalk and gorgeous sandy beach are right on your doorstep. Don’t forget to reserve a room with a fire pit as s’mores kits are available at the on-site shop.
The resort was formerly the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa, but is now part of Noble House Hotels & Resorts’ collection of luxury, experience-focused hotels.

Beach Facilities: The Sandbox rents bikes (extreme, beach cruisers, kids bikes and trailers) for use on the trails and sand toys for use on the beach. The water sports rental at the resort’s marina rents pedal boats, segways, paddleboards, pontoons and more. There is a net for beach volleyball on the territory (balls can be purchased at the reception).
Good to know: Like Paradise Point, Ocean Beach is on the other side of the bay. But this inn has hiking trails and easy highway access, so you’ll feel less isolated. It’s a scenic drive of approximately 6 miles around the bay to the ocean in Mission Beach.

Note: The hotel will be renamed Margaritaville in 2024 (we expect this will improve things, but we’re not sure).

Why you should go: Paradise Point Resort is a four-star, 462-room bungalow-style resort in Mission Bay, founded in 1962 by famed Hollywood director Jack Skirball.
This 44-acre resort is surrounded by more than a mile of bay beach, giving it the feel of a secluded tropical island. Enjoy five pools, a tranquil lagoon and lush gardens. Beaches of the bay without waves (attractive for families with small children), guests can rent water equipment.
This resort is across Mission Bay from the beach. You will need to drive about 2 miles around the bay to get to the beach (best to use Uber as beach parking is difficult in the summer). When you get to the entrance you will see the park, so this seems to be the closest hotel to Sea World, but it’s about a 30 minute walk door to door.
Beach Services: There are 14 fire pits along the bay beach for beach games including volleyball, bocce and horseshoes. Beach toys and accessories can be purchased at Island Market. Paradise Surfing Academy (members take a boat across the bay to headquarters) offers daily surfing lessons on the ocean beach.
Hotels In Coronado
Good to know: It’s isolated because there’s not much to do nearby in terms of restaurants and shops. You can also read various reviews about this resort (some complaints about service and cleanliness). The resort is quite large so walking can be difficult, but golf carts are available. In addition, the beaches of the bay are public.
SeaWorld San Diego used to have water taxis, but they are no longer in service. If you pass by SeaWorld San Diego on your way to or from the resort, you’ll feel closer to SeaWorld San Diego than any of the other hotels and resorts on this list.
Awards: San Diego Magazine – Readers’ Choice: Best Hotel for Kids/Family 2019; TripAdvisor Readers’ Choice 2020; Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2022
Why you should go: Bahia Resort Hotel was the first hotel in Mission Bay. This Mediterranean-themed resort is located on a secluded 14-acre peninsula that juts out into Mission Bay and features a private beach on the bay. It is a sister hotel of Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa. This means that transfers are available between the two hotels and are known to offer good value for money.
The Best San Diego Hotels For Every Kind Of Traveler
Access to the ocean at Mission Beach and Belmont Park requires a pleasant and relaxing 10-minute walk. This is another beach hotel as it is close to Bay Beach and Ocean Beach.
There is a deli restaurant on site, as well as the signature restaurant Dockside 1953, which serves seafood and beach food, as well as a nautical-themed menu.
Beach Amenities: Guests can rent beach cabanas for free on the bay’s private beach and enjoy seasonal children’s beach activities, summer beach concerts and summer games. Available all year round.
Good to know: This is an older resort, so its location is part of why it’s great value. Bahia is also famous for its good service. One of the family-friendly luxury hotels near SeaWorld San Diego that offers overnight accommodations.
