Best Vacations With A Dog – Something about January makes us want to sit down with our calendars and start planning next year’s travels. It’s cold and dark outside, so using your laptop to plan your adventures is incredibly fun.
Although we’ve put a pause on major international travel during the pandemic, we love getting to know the Seattle area and its amazing (and dog-friendly!) weekend getaways. After spending his decade in New York City and Chicago, it’s fun to come back and rediscover old favorites. It’s also fun to see new and innovative campgrounds, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs springing up here. Best of all, I love seeing so many dog-friendly options during my stay. To be honest, Coho She Oceanfront won me over with its waterfront fire pit. This Oregon Coast home is a short drive from Seattle, but the beautiful modern interior and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean make it worth the drive. Some rooms allow dogs under 25 pounds. Please see here for the detail.

In January 2020, we spent a perfect weekend at The Lodges on Vashon, which I blogged about here, and those memories sustained me through the first month of lockdown. In 2019 we spent a fun Easter weekend in Semiahmoo and were looking forward to the opportunity to return to the beautiful landscapes and secluded beaches that Lizzie loved to explore. A stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this cozy resort is the perfect basecamp for hiking and enjoying Northern Washington’s incredible coastal views. I fell in love with the beautiful new Water’s Edge Suite at the historic Orcas Island Lodge, which features a private balcony overlooking the bay. I can see myself walking around there with a book. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and the trip to Maine that I blogged about here) and each trip was great. Sure, Idaho is just a short drive from Seattle, but staying in this welcoming state requires a lot of driving.
