Dog-friendly Places To Stay In Sussex
If you and your dog need some peace and quiet, take a walk along the coast to Klimping Beach. It will take you about an hour to walk here, but if you decide to drive instead, there is a dog-friendly parking lot right next to the endless sand.
Although technically in East Sussex, this lovely sandy beach had to be on the list. Camber Sands is the only sand dune system in this part of the county and welcomes dogs all year round. Here you can explore miles and miles of sand and sea, so it’s all in all a beach paradise for dogs and people alike.
However, there are some restrictions between May and September, so follow the council’s notices to understand where your four-legged friend is and isn’t allowed.Â

Heading west along the coast from Camber, the gently sloping shores of nearby Winchells Beach are regular breaks (sometimes you’ll have the whole beach to yourself). More shingle than sand, with plenty of rock pools for jumping in and play areas, Winchelsea offers higher views of the Dungeness Headland and Fairlight Rocks. Keep traveling west and you’ll reach Pett Level Beach for more rocks and sounds. For feet that don’t like shingles, there is a concrete path that runs along the top of the beach. Stay at a dog-friendly beach retreat at Cliff-End Fort or Cloudbreak to have the beach right on your doorstep. There are some great beaches to the west of St. Leonard’s Beach and East: Greatstone and Littlestone.
