Vaccines for your pets fall into two categories: core and topical vaccines. Regional non-native vaccines are those recommended by veterinarians in the region to ensure your pet is vaccinated against common diseases in the Central Valley.
Topical non-essential vaccines for dogs and puppies: Leptospirosis, Bordetella, canine influenza and distemper. (This vaccine may or may not be recommended depending on the dog’s risk of infection.)
Regional adjuvant vaccines for cats and kittens: Feline leukemia. (This vaccine may or may not be recommended depending on the cat’s risk of infection.)

Weekly Low-cost Dog/cat Vaccination Clinic
Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats are some of the most common fatal diseases affecting pets that can be prevented with a simple vaccine. It is estimated that 30% of pet owners do not take their pets to the vet for preventative care each year. To address this critical need, Española Humane and Petco Love have teamed up to provide free and affordable pet vaccinations.
Adopted pets receive free vaccinations through Petco Live, a national vaccination initiative. Española Humane aims to vaccinate 1,000 animals through free vaccination clinics and spay/neuter clinics. The next clinic will be held at the Shelter Clinic, 108 Ham Parkway, Espanola from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10. No need to register in advance. All dogs must be on a lead and all cats must be in a crate.
Vaccinations for unvaccinated Rio Arriba County pets are $10; Residents outside the service area are also welcome: $10 for repaired pets and $20 for unrepaired pets. Vaccines distributed through the Petco Love initiative will be DAPPv dog and HCP cat vaccines.
