One of the most dog-friendly caravan parks in Victoria is BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Caravan Park in Ballarat. Thanks to the completely fenced parking spaces in the special dog zone, the park is very popular with dog owners. You can park your car and RV (or whatever you have in your facility) in a fenced lot and then safely let your dog off the leash.
If you don’t have your own facility, Dogwood also offers a two-bedroom dog house in the park. The cabin sleeps up to five people and dogs are allowed inside, but not on the furniture. Dog bowls and toys are provided, there is a covered porch and a private dog run.
However, the latest in dog-friendliness takes this RV to the next level. There is now a pet-friendly billabong area at the back of the park where people and dogs can splash around in a natural setting. Book a stay with pets!
Another particularly dog-friendly accommodation option in Victoria is Best Friend Retreat. This pet-friendly resort is located south of Traralgon in the Darra Valley in South Gippsland. A tranquil location surrounded by rainforest and abundant wildlife but only 2 1/2 hours drive from Melbourne, perfect for a long weekend.
Pet Friendly Parks In Victoria
The resort was designed specifically for dog owners. There are six fenced off-leash areas so there is always a place for your dog to run off-leash. There is agility equipment in one area and a giant dog ball in another. There is also a water bath for refreshing after strenuous, muddy days.
When it comes to accommodation, you have your choice of pet-friendly cabins and a variety of locations. Each cabin is securely fenced, but dogs are expected to sleep inside. Some campsites are fenced in enough to allow you to park your caravan inside.
Another great pet-friendly caravan park in the Gippsland area is Prime Pet Friendly Tourist Park. The park is located at the entrance to the lakes, not far from the shore. The park recently became Victoria’s first child-free caravan park and is instead aimed at travelers with pets.
At Prime, all cabins, cabins and vans are 100% dog friendly. In fact, they are only available to pet owners! One of the rooms is reserved exclusively for hypoallergenic dogs, regardless of dog owners with allergies.
Dog Friendly Areas
On site you will find a dog wash, an off-leash dog run, a washing machine for pet bedding and kennels for daycare. Look out for new developments including training, including new glamping tents and accommodation packages. .
If you plan to travel further north than southern Victoria, make a reservation at the Rich River Tourist Park in Echuca. This park on the Murray River welcomes pets at sites and select cabins year-round.
Choose between a standard or a luxury cabin. Standard cabins accommodate two or three guests, while luxury cabins accommodate up to four or six guests. Both are completely independent and have their own bathroom and bed linen. Please note that cottages incur additional pet fees.

There are many pet-friendly caravan parks around Warrnambool and Port Fairy at the western end of the Great Ocean Road. Another pet-friendly option is Gum Tree Caravan Park near Port Fairy.
This pet-friendly caravan park welcomes pets 365 days a year and features a dedicated off-leash area and a play area for four-legged guests. Pets are permitted in select cabins and on platforms.
Choose from Studio cabins (super comfy and great for a couple, we promise) or Villa cabins, Superior ensuite cabins, Standard ensuite cabins or Budget ensuite cabins. Avoid deluxe ensuite cabins and one-bedroom vacation units. Reservations for pet-friendly accommodations can be made by telephone.
One of the most popular dog caravan parks on the east side of the Great Ocean Road is the Marengo Family Caravan Park outside Apollo Bay.
Top Dog-friendly Holidays In Victoria
Part of the park’s appeal is that pets are welcome year-round, even in the busy summer months, making it one of the few options on this stretch of beach. In addition, pets are allowed in all rooms and floors at no extra charge.
Choose between holiday cabins, sea view cabins and luxury sea view cabins. Each cabin can accommodate up to five or six people and is completely self-sufficient. Keep your pets away from carpeted areas and furniture.

The historic town of Beechworth is about a three-hour drive northeast of Melbourne and is dog-friendly. There are a number of caravan sites on the campsite which are pet friendly, but on our last visit we stayed at Beechworth Holiday Park.

This peaceful park is just outside the city. It’s halfway along the dog-friendly trail to Lake Caerfurt, a fun but muddy trail to walk your dog. They have their own K9000 dog wash.
In addition to the busy Easter long weekend, dogs are allowed in areas of the park with prior approval and the park also has a variety of pet-friendly cabins. The pet-friendly one-bedroom cabins sleep up to two people and include a private kitchen and bathroom for your dog for a small additional charge per night.
If you’re looking for somewhere to park near Melbourne, Crystal Brook Tourist Park is one of the best options. The park is located in Doncaster East on the north-eastern edge of Melbourne.
At the edge of the park there is an off-leash dog training area with agility training for all dogs in the park. Pets are permitted on floors and in select rooms.

Both luxury and budget dog-friendly cabins are available, with the former featuring its own fence and patio for cats. The park also has a new dog wash facility.
Dog Friendly Accommodation On The Great Ocean Road
Whether a trip north or a short stay on the Murray River, a great pet-friendly caravan park in Wodonga is BIG4 Borderland Wodonga Holiday Park. The park also has a dog run at the back of the park, perfect for re-energizing while driving the Hume Highway with your dog.
Additionally, all standard cabins have recently become dog-friendly, meaning one dog is allowed in the house and there is only a small cleaning fee per stay. If you book online, look for a dog-friendly paw print cabin. (However, call before you arrive to add your dog to the reservation.)
If you prefer to stay in one of the other cabins, the park has purchased two portable dog houses that can be placed in front of each cabin. However, pets are not permitted in the other cabins.
An hour’s drive from Wodonga across the Murray is the Yarrawonga Riverlands Tourist Park near Lake Mulwala. Pets are welcome in the park except at Easter and Christmas/New Year – check with the park
