The Grand Haven area is famous for its sandy beaches along Lake Michigan. Of course, we have several beaches where dogs can get off and enjoy themselves. Kirk Park on Lakeshore Drive has a dog beach and hiking trails. Grand Haven City Beach, located south of Grand Haven State Park, welcomes dogs on the beach from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial Day and Labor Day. Before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, dogs are allowed on a leash at any time.

Many of these parks and outdoor areas have access points to the Ottawa North Dunes, Kitchel Lindquist Dunes Preserve, Hofma Preserve, Ottawa Sands and Duncan Forest. The Grand Haven area also has several dog parks such as East Grand River Park, Coast Guard Park, Spring Lake Central Park, and Grand Ravines Park. The trails at Mulligan’s Hollow Park, Hemlock Junction, Eastmanville Farms and PJ Hoffmaster State Park round out the list of dog-friendly areas.
