Dog-friendly Weekend Getaways East Coast – If you’re looking for a dog-friendly weekend getaway near New York City with your pup, I highly recommend visiting Think Big! Tiny House Resort. This dog-friendly resort is located in the Catskills of New York State, about two hours from Manhattan. We stayed at the resort for three days and two nights to rest and relax. I also want to take Gatsby on an adventure.
This dog-friendly resort features 11 tiny houses on wheels nestled in the Catskill Forest. Depending on the room you choose, there can be between 2 and 7 people. Each small house has its own unique name (ours is called Oki). These homes include kitchens, full bathrooms with toilets, heat/air conditioning, WiFi, TVs with Netflix to watch your favorite shows and private patios with gas grills and fire pits.

There is also an enclosed off-leash play area for your pup. If your puppy gets dirty from playing, you can use dog water to bathe him.
40+ Dog-friendly Vacations (roadtrips)
The resort has everything you need! It’s like a little hotel on wheels in the woods! All I brought was Gatsby’s raw food and food for cooking and grilling.
Explore the resort with your pup. If you follow Catskill Creek, you will come to the waterfall.
There are farm animals on site, chickens and goats roam free! You’ll see some wild animals around, so it’s a good idea to keep your puppy on a leash.
You’ll find s’mores kits, spices and cooking supplies, mugs and local crafts for sale. Some of these items can be purchased with cash or Venmo. You can borrow cooking spices, DVDs, books and board games during your stay.

Every tiny house comes with a gas grill. We brought some meat to the grill and relaxed on the front deck listening to soft music.
Wrapping up in a blanket with your pup and looking at the stars together at night will give you all the feels. ?
Within 15-20 minutes of the resort, you can drive and explore the many hiking trails in the Catskills, Hudson, Saugerties and Catskill Mountains.
Walk through the oldest Buddhist temple on the East Coast of the United States! You’ll also find a seven-story tall Emerald Buddha, the only one of its kind in the United States.

10 Dog-friendly Vacations On The East Coast
📍 The ferry we bought was for 08:00, but please note that you can board the ferry at any time other than your booked time! This is very convenient. The marina ferry terminal has a lot of convenient stands for drinks, snacks and I even had lunch there! (Only nasi lemak – it tastes pretty good!)
👍🏻 The ferry was very clean and the trip was smooth and fast! It took about 15 minutes, but my boyfriend and I fell asleep quickly and it was actually very relaxing… but stay awake and you can enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean
🤍 There is a beautiful causeway between San Juan and Lazaro Island. The water is clear and blue, and the gentle breeze is refreshing.
Along the footpath you will see many families with small picnics or experienced fishermen! We actually talked to one of them and he said that there are a lot of fish and we can see the small fish that he catches. The problem is that the little fish are so big, I can’t imagine the big fish, haha. So for those who know how to fish, visit this place! 😆

📍At the entrance to Causeway Bay, there is a bike shop where you can rent bikes and segways, which is nice, but I hear it’s a front bike! If you have your own bike, you can take it on the ferry to ride to the San Juan Islands and find the Maritime Public Park Gallery. It is just a good place to install the air conditioner and fill the water/toilet, but there is almost nothing to see in the tank! There are educational guides around the gallery, but again, it’s pretty small, so it can honestly be skipped…
🤍 In Kusu, the island is very small, so you only need 30 minutes to explore the island, unless you want to have fun on their beach! The beaches here are very beautiful…unlike Lazarus Beach, much whiter than the blue waters of Lazarus/St Johns, but it’s pretty clear which I prefer. 😍😍 Perfect for taking photos and even for your pets to swim/boat/play at Kusu Beach as the water level is very low and safe due to the breakwater that surrounds it.
The iconic Turtle Turtle Pool has lots of turtles so it’s fun to watch! Of course, you must see, they say that if you toss a coin, the bell will ring and ring, and your wish will come true, haha, you have to try it! The goal is also fun, but not easy 🫣🫣🫣 Why leave Fido at home on your next vacation when you don’t need him?
