It’s a good idea to bring familiar things that will help your puppy feel at home. Many vacation rentals, or beach cabins, have rules regarding pets. A general rule of thumb is that you can’t leave a pet unattended at home unless it’s in a crate. Additionally, pets should stay off the furniture, so if your pup is used to hanging out on the couch, please bring extra sheets or blankets from home. Pacific City Vacation Rentals
What are you waiting for? Pack those bags and explore the home of memories of endless blue skies and sunshine! The west coast is beautiful, I don’t think anyone would argue with that. But in my ever-humble opinion, the Oregon Coast has the most breathtaking scenery and the greatest variety of things to do and see. As someone who loves my dogs, it makes a lot of sense that the Oregon Coast is also the most dog-friendly. So let me give you a more detailed guide of places to visit for both you and your dog.
While most places are dog-friendly, there were plenty of places where we could stretch our six legs, but there were a few places I didn’t mention in the article. Whether you’re traveling with your sweet tot or not, I’ll give you a guide on the PNW coast from Astoria to the Crescent City to avoid the crowds for a trip to remember for a lifetime, do it on a budget, and make the memories last.
I would plan at least a full week to see the entire coast, but plan more if you want to take the time to see everything you want to see!
Travel Tip: Many scenic spots have parking fees. You may want to consider purchasing an Oregon Pacific Coast or Oregon State Parks pass, as it will be cheaper in the long run than paying for each individual park permit.
Dog-friendly Travel Across The U.s.a
If you’re coming from Portland, you’ll want to start at the north end of the coast, in Astoria, and walk down the coast from there. Astoria is a charming coastal town with lots of mountains and lots to explore. and look
One place you’ll want to include in your Astoria itinerary is the Astoria Bar. Located on the highest hill in the city, you can climb a few steps to get a spectacular view of the area. From the top of the Strip, you can see the Pacific Ocean, the Columbia River and Youngs River, and the Astoria-Megler Bridge.
Now, you can’t take your dog over the bar because there isn’t enough room inside the bar for people to squeeze together, much less a moving dog. But you can climb to the top of the hill, have lunch at one of the picnic tables and enjoy the view from the top with your cute little one.
If you have kids with you, you can also buy an inexpensive wooden glider that lifts up and glides down. Parking is $5.
