Dog Friendly Vacations Near Me – There’s something about January that makes me want to sit down at my calendar and plan my entire trip for next year. It’s so cold and dark outside that curling up with your laptop and planning your adventures is incredibly satisfying.
Even though we’ve put our major international trips on hold during the pandemic, we’ve enjoyed getting reacquainted with the Seattle area and its wonderful (and dog-friendly) weekend getaways with dogs!). After living in New York and Chicago for a decade, it’s fun to go back and rediscover old favorites and see new glampsites, boutique hotels, and unique Airbnbs springing up here. And best of all, I love seeing how many of you are choosing dog-friendly vacation options. I’m so glad we were able to take Dave and Lizzie on vacation with us.

I’d like to plan a trip to this gorgeous inn and event space near picturesque Friday Harbor, which has several dog-friendly cabins. How incredible does this image look? We also love hiking and the beautiful views of San Juan Island. Detailed information about dogs is listed here under each cabin description.
Grab your best friend to experience the magic of wine country at one of our favorite resorts in the area. We have been organizing weekend getaways to Sagecliff since 2015 and it truly never disappoints. Hiking, wine tasting and panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge make this a dream getaway. Here are the details of the puppy policy.
Captain Whidbey is at the top of my elopement “bucket list” for 2022. Recently featured in publications like Vogue, this beautifully restored historic inn keeps popping up on my Instagram feed and I’d love to take a tour myself. Review the reservation engine to see which rooms (like Cabin Filson!) are marked as pet-friendly.
Walla Walla is one of the best wine regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I honestly can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve been bookmarking this modern city center hotel for a while now because it seemed like the perfect base camp for a weekend in the snow or a weekend drink. Or both! A limited number of pet-friendly rooms are available upon request. Detailed information is provided here.
Isla Holbox: Mexico’s Dog-friendly Paradise
We’ve previously blogged about how much we love Getaway tiny houses and we’re checking out a new location in the Skagit Valley. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature while staying warm and dry. So just how incredible is this particular bedside window? Dogs are allowed for an additional fee; details here.
Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with its riverside fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast motel is a short drive from Seattle, its sleek, modern interiors and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean make it worth the trip. Dogs up to 25 pounds are allowed in some rooms; More information here.
My New Year’s resolution was to book a stay at the Dreamy Inn in St. Petersburg. Get to Edward as soon as possible – it’s not difficult, as it’s only half an hour from the city. This historic seminary has been restored as a luxurious luxury resort located on 326 acres of trails directly on the shores of Lake Washington. You can also unwind after a day of exploring with a spa tour or Pacific Northwest cuisine at Cedar + Elm. More details about the dogs here.
We spent a wonderful weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020, which we wrote about here, and those memories helped me get through the first months of quarantine. This 570-square-foot transitional-style apartment features amenities including a private deck, fireplace, and soaking tub. They also make an ideal base camp for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hiking. Nine of the sixteen motels allow dogs; Simply select “pet fee” on the booking portal; You can see more details here.
Dog Friendly Vacations 2024
I’ve long dreamed of staying in one of Instagram’s famous A-frames, and this year I’m determined to make it happen. Tye River Cabin offers three different stunning A-frame cabins located in the heart of the mountain. Baker-Snoqualmie and all three accept pets for a fee. But to be wise, booking might be difficult since each of her amazing Instagram posts gets thousands of likes. Pet information is listed below each cabin information.
We spent a lovely Easter weekend in Semiahmoo in 2019 and I was looking for an opportunity to get back to the beautiful scenery and remote beaches that Lizzie loved to explore. This cozy resort, located near the Canadian border, is the perfect base camp for great hiking and stunning views of the Northern Washington coastline. They are very dog friendly and pups are welcomed with their own bowl, bed and (at least during our visit) some souvenirs. More details about the dogs here.
Travel back in time when you stay in one of these classic motorhomes in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They are in the Willamette wine region. The camper comes with brewed coffee, luxurious linens and plush robes. Puppies are allowed in the Shasta Trailer and will be described in detail here.
Anacortes is one of my favorite tours in the city. Drive an hour and a half north from Seattle and you’ll reach this quaint coastal city in the heart of the city, filled with charming shops, delicious cafes, and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite bookstores in Washington!) And we love The Majestic, an outstanding downtown hostel with comfortable rooms and a gorgeous loft. Detailed puppy policy can be found here.
How To Plan A Dog Friendly Vacation
I love a one-of-a-kind experience, and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts definitely fits the bill. These tiny houses were designed by Seattle architects Olson Kundig as a modern alternative to camping. Go for a walk or just relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. Hotels.com has a pet policy under its Rates and Policies section.
This luxury resort on Hood Canal boasts that it’s been breeding puppies since 1913, and we can believe it with a menu full of amenities for Fido. Make memories by renting a canoe, hiking the trails, or simply enjoying the view. Read about dogs here.
Okay, technically it’s not available yet, but we’ve signed up for notifications to reserve spots as soon as these gorgeous camping trailers debut in Olympic National Park. They offer comfort beyond standard camping while providing a discreet and eco-friendly way to immerse yourself in nature. With two DC locations expected to open soon, we look forward to making reservations for this summer. Pet policies can be found in our FAQs here.
I’m obsessed with the gorgeous new Water’s Edge Suites at the historic Orcas Island Inn, which have a private balcony overlooking the bay. I see myself curled up with a book. I think the only thing that could attract me was the wonderful menu of the cafe on the territory of the La Moi hotel. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in select rooms, suites and studios. details here.

If you follow us on Instagram, you know that we make quick trips to Seabrook whenever we can. This picturesque seaside town on Washington’s gorgeous Pacific Coast truly offers everything I look for in a vacation; A beautiful city center with easily accessible shops and restaurants, a wide selection of rental properties and pristine beaches. Puppies are welcome at many rental properties.
With sweeping views of Lake Washington, The Woodmark offers a delightful stay just minutes from downtown Seattle. Explore the shops and restaurants of downtown Kirkland, relax on the water, or pamper yourself at the spa. Order the Woof, Wag and Worry Less package, which includes a bowl, bed and special treats for your pup. See more Fido prints here.
If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We’ve stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on the Maine trip we wrote about here) and each trip was great. Essentially, they set up luxury hunting tents on private land, like this beautiful fruit farm near Mead, Washington. You can even pay a little extra to have one of their fruit muffins or some farm fresh eggs delivered to you for a delicious al fresco meal. More information about Tentrr’s puppy policy can be found here.
Admittedly, Idaho is a long way from Seattle, but we’d go any distance to get to this windswept lookout. Plus, the little details like the sauna and antique coffee grinder really melted my heart. Pets are allowed, but given the access to stairs, you may have to decide if you’d like it.
