The best beaches for dogs in the UK have been revealed with new data from online reviews used to find Britons’ favourites.

With a score of 8.85 out of 10 dogs, Dorset’s Durdle Door Beach took the top spot. It is described as “the perfect corridor for dog and owner, the iconic limestone gate creating a surreal backdrop for your game of catch.” The score is based on a West Coast rating of over 4,298.
Another Dorset beach spot, Man O’War Beach, came second with a score of 8.3. Also known as East Dardle Door, it’s a rocky beach with calm waters that prevent swells – which means a chance to get dirty with your dog.
It is linked to the hunt for Wales, the Three Cliffs of Glamorgan, the first beach on the list. There are dunes on the beach with plenty of room for movement.
In fourth place is Marlous Sands in Pembrokeshire with 8.2 out of 10. As part of the stunning rocky beaches, it’s a “perfect photo opportunity with your dog,” the report says.

Cuckmere Haven Beach in East Sussex is in the top five with a score of 8.06. The silent part of the rock is next to the white rocks of the Seven Sisters.
Devon is home to the highest number of dog-friendly beaches on this list, ranking 22 out of 148.
Research from Showers to You analyzed Google ratings and rankings for 148 dog-free beaches to find the most popular spots. However, beaches that were not evaluated and assessed by Google Maps were not included in the study. A weighted mean was calculated to obtain a total weighted score before calculating the standardized index score.
